Version 1.3.1
Fall 2026
See exactly what your AI answer stands on. Pelorus checks every sentence of an AI answer against the search results your AI provider was actually given. Anything those results back up carries a footnote to its source. Anything they don't back up gets marked "not in sources," and a tap shows exactly which words never appeared. Nothing gets hidden or quietly dropped: you see the whole answer and where each part comes from.
- Cross-Check shows the corroboration. Every claim is traced to the engines behind it, with linked footnotes showing which were found by more than one search index and which were found by only one.
- More sources feed every answer. Wikipedia, arXiv, OpenAlex, Crossref, Hacker News, and Marginalia now feed the AI answer alongside the web engines.
- Pelorus tells you what happened, every time. If your AI provider fails, Pelorus says so, with Try again right on the card. An engine that can't search verbatim says so on its card. Verification checks are solved right on the engine's card, with no detour.
- Turn off tracker blocking for any site. One tap in the shield menu, and the page reloads and works. Manage your exceptions anytime in Settings.
- Suggestions name their source. See which engine every suggestion comes from.
Fixes and refinements
- Reader renders complex pages more completely.
- Bing results now appear on iPad.
- Search Deeper no longer reshuffles results already on screen.
- Tapping a suggestion keeps your bang, so the search runs on the engine you chose.
- A busy engine now says it's busy instead of "returned nothing."
- Find in Page is ready the moment it opens and shows the match count.
- Settings shows your license.
Version 1.3 — Release 1
Summer 2026
Pelorus is a multi-engine Web and AI search app. Search several engines at once and see where they agree.
Search
- Fan-out. One query goes to every engine you enable. Results arrive as cards you swipe between, with the next engine's edge visible so you can see there is more.
- Pelorus Unified Search. All your engines' results merged into one ranked list. Pages that several engines found rank above pages one engine put first, because a page several engines found is stronger evidence than one engine's opinion. Results are grouped under a heading that says how many indexes found them, in words; turn on result details for each engine's own ranking.
- Independent sources. Some engines share an index — DuckDuckGo gets most of its results from Bing, for example. Pelorus groups those together so their agreeing cannot overstate how much corroboration there really is.
- Filters. Show only results several engines agreed on, or only the ones a single engine found — the long tail most searches never surface.
- Compare two searches side by side and see what changes between them.
- Time range. Filter every engine at once to the past day, week, month, or year.
- Domain rules. Boost, bury, or block any domain permanently. Touch and hold a result to set one; a boosted or buried site carries a small arrow beside its address.
- Presets. Keep a set of engines, their order, filter and weights as a preset, and load it from the search button in one tap.
AI
- On-device summaries using Apple Intelligence, with Pelorus Unlimited. No key, no account, nothing leaves your device.
- Bring your own key for Anthropic, OpenAI, and other providers if you want a larger model.
Reading
- Reader strips a page down to the article — only what the page is showing, not what it hides — with twenty-two reading faces (Newsreader and the High Legibility faces without Unlimited, all of them with it), size, measure, line spacing, left or justified text, images at three sizes, and, with Unlimited, dimming that works on its own for reading at night.
- Read Aloud. Reader reads the article to you in the voice and at the speed you choose, marking each word as it goes. Tap a paragraph to start there; touch and hold to hear just its section. Skip ten seconds either way, keep listening in the background, and control it from the Lock Screen and Control Center. AirPlay it to a speaker.
- Links and images. Tap a link to open it; touch and hold to preview it in place, add it to your Reading List, or search Pelorus for it. Tap an image for the full picture, its caption and source, to save or share it, to pull the text out of it, or to have your device describe it.
- Focus fades everything but the paragraph or line you are on.
- Send to Obsidian, DEVONthink, or anywhere else, as Markdown or PDF — the article and its source together.
- Export a whole set of results, or an entire session.
Appearance
- Light or dark cards. Unified Search, AI Synthesis, Reader and the results pages follow your choice, or the system. The frame around Pelorus's own cards carries your accent.
Privacy
- Nothing is saved. No history, no cookies, no caches. Tap Erase and every trace is gone.
- Tracker blocking, with categories you control and a counter that shows it working.
- No accounts, no analytics, no tracking. Pelorus has no backend that sees what you search. Apple tells us how many people downloaded and bought Pelorus, as aggregate numbers with no names attached.
- Face ID lock, app-switcher shielding, and erase-on-close.
Pelorus Unlimited
A one-time purchase. No subscription. Unlimited engines, custom engines, domain rules, filters, and appearance options.
